New SSSR Committee Structure

The SSSR Executive Council has adopted a new structure for SSSR committees and their charges, which will take effect following the 2025 Annual Meeting.  The new structure is intended to reduce unnecessary service of our members, clarify the work of the committees, and strengthen the role of Council.

The new Travel Grants Committee consolidates the work of the current Jack Shand International Travel Grant Committee and the Student Travel Grants Committee.

The Research Grants Committee is now responsible for the work of the Jack Shand Research Grant Committee and the Student Research Grants Committee.

The Professional Development Committee consolidates the work of the current Professional Development Committee and the Mentoring Committee.

The Membership Committee is now responsible for the work of both the Membership Committee and the Interdisciplinary Engagement Committee.

The Publications & Communication Committee is responsible for the charges of the current Publications Committee and Communications Committee.

The charges of the Finance Committee and Strategic Planning Committee will be taken over by Council, and these committee will be disbanded.

The charges of the Distinguished Book Award Committee, the Distinguished Article Award Committee and the Student Paper Award Committee are unchanged, but the term of service on these committees is shortened to one year.  For all other committees, the term of service is two years.
